What will therapy sessions be like?

In your first session, I will ask you about various aspects of your life including your concerns, stress level, relationships, health and medical history, sleep, and work. I will listen carefully and take some notes. This is called an 'intake interview.'

Then we will come up with a roadmap for helping you to get back on your feet and functioning as you would like, as fast as possible. We will talk about some goals for therapy, and how you will know when those goals are met.

You can choose a 60- or 90-minute session. Some people like to start with a longer session, then move to shorter sessions the rest of the time. It's up to you and what you feel comfortable with.

I work in-person in Perth, in a second-floor office accessible through two flights of stairs, every weekday except Fridays. On Saturdays and Sundays I work in Edinburgh in a ground floor office. Sessions are a mix of talk therapy, mind-body work, learning practical skills and coping strategies, and guided imagery/relaxation.
